Accredited Meter Verification (AMV)

Since its establishment in 1999, ERTH’s meter shop has grown to become a leader in the Ontario electric metering market. Through our Measurement Canada Accredited Meter Verification (AMV) program, ERTH tests, verifies, seals and certifies electrical meters for utility, industrial and retail customers across Canada. 

As a trusted partner, ERTH liaises with meter manufacturers and Measurement Canada on our customer’s behalf to ensure their meters conform to all respective standards.

ERTH also provides project management services for meter populations to ease the burden on local distribution companies (LDCs) and other meter owners.

In 2012, ERTH became the first ASP accredited by Measurement Canada to perform compliance sampling.

Compliance sampling allows for a sample group of in-service meters to be tested without removing all meters from the field. This provides a significant cost savings to utilities while reducing meter changing costs and maximizing the lifespan and value of their assets. In addition, compliance sampling reduces the amount of overhead needed for the meter population. 

ERTH has performed compliance sampling for LDCs across Ontario, allowing large lots of meters to have their seal extended, while minimizing cost of operation and maximizing the integrity of the meters.

ERTH’s one-of-a-kind Sampling Plan Management Program takes the burden off utilities. Several utilities are already taking part in this program, which includes:

• Lot sizing
• Time-On Test Monitoring
• Inventory Management
• Annual Statistical Reporting (assisting customers in selecting the appropriate recertification level to better manage the asset)

In addition, ERTH will liaise with Measurement Canada on behalf of our customers, while helping ensure that each meter lot attains maximum seal life.
